Hispaniola is at it's core a trick taking game, but steeped in piratey goodness.

In Hispaniola, players control a gang of Caribbean pirates. Each gang wants to become the captain of a fleet of small ships, because as captain, you will get the largest share of the booty! Pirates literally push and shove each other in their attempts to occupy the captain's post on several different ships at once. During these scuffles many pirates are thrown overboard. Castaways must swim through a series of godforsaken islands, one worse than the next, until they can build a raft and sail back to join their gang, and enter the struggle once more. The pirate gang that has amassed the most booty at the end of the struggle wins the game.
