The Age of Steam: 1890 Berlin expansion originally appeared in the German magazine, Fairplay. This new printing is in color and it includes English language rules.

An innovative new Production mechanism is used in the Age of Steam: 1890 Berlin expansion. The color value of each City is determined at the start of the game, with each game being quite different. The Urbanization action is not used while the Engineer action is modified. This expansion is a bit more deterministic than standard Age of Steam. The normal play time is 90 minutes.

The Age of Steam: 1890 Berlin expansion may be played with 3 to 6 players, although the sweet spot is 3 or 4 players.
