Richard Borg's Battle Cry, published in 2000 by Avalon Hill, is being released in a new edition from Wizards of the Coast, which now owns the AH brand. Battle Cry, in which two players re-enact particular Civil War battles, was the precursor of Borg's Memoir '44, BattleLore and Commands & Colors, and after being out-of-print for years, the title will finally be available once again.
Rather than just reprint the original game, though, Wizards of the Coast is doubling the number of scenarios included in the game. Here's the short description from the publisher's catalog, which also provides us with the fuzzy image above:
Civil War is now upon us, and you must take the field as the leader of the Union or the Confederate forces. Command your generals and direct your infantry, cavalry, and artillery in 30 different scenarios that feature the terrain and troop deployment of each historical battle – from the First Bull Run and Wilson’s Creek to Prairie Grove and Gettysburg.
History may have been written, but in Battle Cry, the outcome of each battle is up to you. With your strategy and tactics, you can turn the tide to carry Old Glory or Dixie to victory.
And here's a list of components in the new edition:
• 1 Rulebook
• 1 Game Board
• 60 Command Cards
• 46 Double-sided Terrain Tiles
• 9 Double-sided Entrenchment/Fieldwork Tokens
• 14 Double-sided Flag Tokens
• 8 Battle Dice
• 1 Flag Label Sheet
• 61 durable, plastic figures for each side (122 total).
